Spencer Clarke Group are working closely alongside Birmingham City Council to provide them with an Assistant Director in Public Health for their team.

The role is on a 6-12 month interim contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.

Rate of Pay – Rate is Negotiable depending on experience.

About the role: This post is a joint Consultant in Public Health appointment between Birmingham City Council, Solihull Council and Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group to strengthen the public health support to the NHS system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Assistant Director of Public Health assists the statutory chief officers of the Council (Director of Public Health) to advise on all health matters to elected members, officers and partners, with a leadership role spanning health improvement, health protection and healthcare public health,
  • To lead the Test and Trace response for Birmingham.
  • Providing public health specialist advice on health protection, incident management and infection prevention and control.
  • To support the Chief Executive, Corporate Directors, Elected Members and colleagues in translating strategic vision and priorities for Test and Trace into operational plans, monitoring their progress on a regular basis, identifying exceptions.
